Frequently Asked Questions to the Author
Q) Sarah, what made you decide to write a book?
A) The book was most definitely inspired. Either divinely, maternally
or emotionally, or all of the above. I was lying in bed wide awake
thinking about how my life had changed and decided, “I’m gonna write a
book.” I jumped out of bed and logged on the computer and typed for
almost four hours. That was the beginning of an eight-month writing
project that eventually became this book.
Q) How did you find time to
write a book?
A) All of my writing was done late at night. Adelynn did not sleep well
at all and screamed out hysterically in her sleep many times during the
night. I am a light sleeper anyway so a screaming baby really kept me
tense and unable to relax. Typing and releasing my feelings on the
computer helped me unwind. I enjoyed documenting our story and hoped it
would help or inspire someone else. It was good therapy for me.
Q) Are you going to write
another book?
A) No, I don’t think so. Although I did write this book, I’m not a
writer. I was able to write the book because it’s our story. I enjoyed
sharing my thoughts, feelings and memories of our adoption journey. I
don’t think I have anything else to write about. My creative frenzy is
over. :-)
Q) How is Adelynn doing now?
A) Adelynn is doing fabulous! Thankfully her night terrors are now gone. She's a very active, social and thoughtful girl, now 9 years old and in fourth grade. She’s in a French Immersion Elementary School (yes, here in Tulsa) and enjoys kung fu, ice skating and traveling.
